The controller for the processing of personal data in the Turnee app and on this website is:

Turnee is an app for amateur golf tournaments. Golf clubs create tournaments and import their start lists, players enter their scores, and the leaderboard runs live — in the app, on the clubhouse screen and, if the club chooses, publicly on this website.

This policy explains what data arises along the way, what we use it for and what rights you have.

For an account we process your name, your e-mail address and, if you sign in with a password, its cryptographic derivation. We do not store the password itself.

You may optionally add your handicap index and your DGV membership number. The DGV number is what matches you to your club’s start list — without it you cannot take part in imported tournaments.

The legal basis is performance of the contract, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a permanent identifier for your account there, your e-mail address and, on the first occasion only, your name. No password is created.

If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only ever receive a relay address from Apple, not your real one.

We do not send Apple or Google any data about you that they do not already hold. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

When you take part in a tournament we process your tournament and flight membership, your tee time, your playing handicap and your stroke count per hole, together with the time it was entered and who entered it.

The hosting club needs this data to score the tournament. The club is responsible for the scoring and for publishing it within the tournament; we provide the technical basis and act as a processor on the club’s behalf in that respect.

Whether your name appears on a leaderboard is your decision, taken separately for every tournament you join. If you decline, you appear there as “Player 1”, “Player 2” and so on — your score is unaffected.

The legal basis is your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.

Whether a tournament is publicly visible at all is decided by the hosting club.

If you allow notifications, we store one identifier per device from Expo’s push service. It is how notices from the tournament office and news about players you follow reach you.

When you sign out or uninstall the app, we remove the identifier. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

The app uses the camera solely to read the QR code at check-in on the tee. No images are captured, stored or transmitted. The app does not record audio.

If a club sets up a live stream, it transmits the picture from a camera of its own. We process that stream only in order to relay it and do not record it. Responsibility for placing, aiming and signposting the camera rests with the club.

A Pro subscription is taken out through the App Store or Google Play. Your payment data is processed solely by Apple or Google; we never receive it.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. The identifier of your Turnee account together with purchase and term data is transmitted so that we know whether your subscription is active.

Requests to our servers produce technical log data: IP address, time, the address requested and the volume of data transferred. It serves secure operation and is deleted after 14 days at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

This website uses strictly necessary cookies only. There is no tracking, we embed no analytics services and we use no advertising identifiers.

We pass data on only as far as operation requires:

The US services named above process data on the basis of standard contractual clauses or a certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We store account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete it, we anonymise it without delay.

Tournament results are retained in anonymised form so that completed tournament standings remain verifiable — your name no longer appears there.

In the app you will find deletion under “Profile”. It takes effect immediately: name, e-mail address, handicap and DGV number are replaced, and all sign-ins and devices are removed.

If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion using our form.

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on a legitimate interest. You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

As Turnee develops, we will adapt this policy. The version published here is the one that applies.
